Girl with Persimmons is a winter version of the Girl with Peaches, a photo recreation of one of Valentin Serov’s most famous works.
The image was taken in winter in contrast to Serov’s depiction of a girl on a summer day. That is why a light pink dress is replaced by a sweater and peaches, which peak season is the end of summer, are substituted for persimmons, which are in season during winter months.
