I’m often fascinated by the light that can be seen through the windows of my building. These images were taken in the morning, when the sun was beginning to rise. I used the notion of a frame within a frame, a concept often used by Wong Kar Wai in his films like In the Mood for Love. Along with the framing of the camera, I used the frame of the window. placed the images one after another vertically to resemble a film strip. This mirrors the sequence in which I took the photos. It seems like the objects in various containers are also watching the sun come up, beginning to wake. The coolness of the images also echoes the cold atmosphere.
The images may not be exact, since my tripod tends to drop down, so I lined up the bottom line of the wall with the bottom line of the frame.
