Here are three shots of a ceramic studio in downtown Toronto. The space is operated by Tamara, a multidisciplinary artist with a primary focus on pottery and ceramics. The three shots are framed within in arched mirror, something I found in Tamara’s studio and used to capture her and her artwork within. The three shots follow as: Tamara posing with her work, observing her work, and finally a shot of her work on its own. The decision to use a mirror as a framework meant that I had to stand in the exact same spot each time I clicked the shutter. These three shots lined up the best. Access to a tripod would have eradicated this constraint.
This framework series was inspired by an idea I began to explore in my second framework: how artwork can become a framework for photographing artists.
