Portrait of Sarah Siddons as Lady Macbeth – G.H Harlow

For this one I chose to recreate the image of sarah siddons as lady macbeth. This portrait carries with it a wealth of history, as the person depicted was a pioneer of her time. One of the most decorated actresses of the late 1700’s, she would perform late into each of her 8 pregnancies and seemed to have relished in it. this portrait was commissioned after her retire from the theatre and shows her in her most iconic role. I chose to depict myself in this role as its a harken back to early theatre when men would often play female roles, and the exemplafy parenthood and the struggles required to provide for your children.
