Vincent Van Gogh wrote that his painting Sunflowers conveys the idea of ”gratitude”. To my understanding, it is about his love and appreciation for such lively and vibrant color nature provides us. In my recreation, however, i want to portray a different kind of aesthetic. I preserved some tried flowers from the past and put them together as a collection of “dead” nature. The picture recreates the original composition and color scheme. Some colors have faded and the fragility if the flowers are shown by the fallen pedals. I aim to capture the exact opposite of the Sunflowers which is the beauty of things that are past their prime.
