This framework was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man. The Vitruvian Man is a significant work of the Renaissance which exemplifies the predominant thought of the time of ‘man as the measure of all things.’ With my piece, I intend to subvert the original by creating a fake that looks at the coloured person, the individual who has often been ignored, overlooked, manipulated, policed and abused. In a sense, the question I hope to raise with this is, if the caucasian man is the measure of all things, then what is the coloured person a measure of?
