I tried to make the framing in each photo identical but because these were taken in different places so slight changes in models’ position and lighting can be spotted. I wanted to create three portraits of different people with the same composition. Once these photos are put together you can see how each person expresses themselves differently in front of the camera, whether it is confidence, shyness or lack of emotion. The process of taking someone’s portrait is a form of communication between the photographer and the subject. A personal connection is formed by capturing their action and emotion. It is an interpretation of that person by the photographer, even in a self-portrait.
