Renaissance portraits were almost exclusively for those with money or power. They tend to show their status by wearing the most luxurious outfits and accessories. I recreated a wealthy lady’s portrait with my friend Yang Zhen who is a University Student like myself. I want to show our current identity as students using what occupies most of our time – school. Under the pressure from lectures, peers, assignments, and tests, we are all exhausted. I tried to mimic the original painting with a paper necklace, some paper hair accessories, a paper poncho and other details.
